Rebranding First Data into Fiserv

Client: Fiserv
Role: Design Delivery Manager, leading the team of 20 Product Designers.

Apply Fiserv global Brand Guidelines across multiple touch points for use in all of Europe, improve user interfaces as much as short timeframe allows.

Challenge
Orange is the new blue ➡️✴️

Products were created over last 15 years by various teams in various countries. Design was disconnected and outdated - lagging behind fintech competitors such as Stripe, Adyen or Square. Refreshing merchant experience required not only to update logo and colors but as well to improve and unify user interfaces for various personas.

Short 1-year timeframe required temporary capacity increase of the Design Team.

Solution
Decide on the strategy

I made decision to switch from 2-color system (primary and secondary color) to more modern single color (primary only color) to emphasize actions expected by user to take.

Hire design agencies

To expand the team’s capacity my VP and I hired additional design agencies from UK, Neatherlands, Poland and Uruguay. Internal team served as reviewers and subject matter experts. My role was supervising agency leads from a director position.

How prevent agencies from going into different directions?

Keep consistency through Design System

To support touch points unification, internal Crystal Design System was created: designed by my team, developed by dedicated front-end development team and published on Storybook.

Design Delivery Management

I established dedicated process specifically to manage fast pace delivery of artboards and design system components. Airtable was used to capture and manage tasks as external agencies couldn’t get access to company’s Jira due to security reasons.

Result
8 Products were successfuly redesigned

I was responsible to plan the delivery of design assets and artboards, setup management system process, work with the Global Brand team on approvals, sign contracts and onboard external agencies and supervise their delivery, track timelines, co-manage 2 mln $ budget.
